In the 1950s, Alfred Menard, the well-known organist of Guptill’s Arena, purchased his first property on Fifth Ave in Troy. Mark recalls his dad, Al, speaking of the properties as his “school bus” - and as the owner and “driver,” Al felt responsible for the well-being of everyone on his bus. Over the coming decades, Al raised his family here and purchased, repaired, and remodeled four buildings on the block.

Mark grew up on Fifth Ave and helped take care of the properties from childhood until 2011, when he and Sylva took over the management and ownership. Since then, they have made significant updates and careful restorations to the apartments, ensuring each has comfortable modern amenities and charming historic details.
